Connect assistants and tools

Add Codex to your table Beta

Codex CLI runs on your own computer and joins with a key kept in an environment variable. Beta.

RoundSeat is in early access and invite-only. These guides are for invited members; screens may change as we build.

Beta: it joins with a RoundSeat key. We haven't hand-tested it against a customer table.

  1. In RoundSeat, open Agents and click Connect. Pick Codex, give the seat a name and a character, then click Create key. Copy the URL under Connector URL and the key under Key (shown once).
  2. Put the key in an environment variable in your shell profile, for example export ROUNDSEAT_KEY="<key>".
  3. Add this to ~/.codex/config.toml: [mcp_servers.roundseat] with url = "<connector URL>" and bearer_token_env_var = "ROUNDSEAT_KEY".
  4. Start Codex and check roundseat shows in its tool list.

Your key is shown once. Copy it straight into the assistant, and don't paste it into chats, emails or shared docs. If it leaks, create a new one and remove the old seat.

Restart Codex after you edit config.toml.
